Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna underlined Peru and Colombia's articulated efforts in border security geared towards combatting cross-border crime.

"I have to highlight [Peru and Colombia's] optimal cooperation and strengthening concerning security, which have enabled the development of joint work plans to tackle drug-trafficking and money laundering," he told Andina news agency.

In this sense, work groups have been created to further enhance said cooperation, including the fight against new cross-border crimes such as human and arms trafficking, illegal logging, smuggling, among others.

On the other hand, the government official referred to illegal mining, another common issue to both countries. In this respect, both Peru and Colombia are committed to the Binational Action Plan from an environmental management perspective, he said.

To conclude, Minister Luna anticipated more meetings of this kind, as they are highly positive and based upon complementarity.

"This 3rd Binational Cabinet shows both countries' commitment to reinforce exchange in specific work fields, turning efforts into concrete results," he pointed out.
