Peru: 38 drug laboratories destroyed in Feb-Jun 2018

13:28 | Lima, Jun. 20.

Peruvian Interior Ministry's Special Project for Control and Reduction of Illegal Crops in Alto Huallaga (CORAH) —supported by the National Police (PNP)— destroyed 38 drug laboratories between February and June 2018.

These clandestine labs were located in Oxapampa (30), Padre Abad (3), Puerto Inca (4), and Tocache (1).

In addition, CORAH reported the eradication of 13,271.39 hectares of coca plantations.

In this sense, anti-drug agents eradicated 6,602.62 ha in Oxapampa (Pasco), 4,996.99 ha in Tocache (San Martin), 908.22 in Padre Abad (Ucayali), and 763.56 ha in Puerto Inca (Huanuco).

Likewise, 6,194 square meters of seedlings were destroyed, thus avoiding the cultivation of illegal coca.

It must be noted these operations were conducted from February 1 to June 17, within the framework of the 2018 Annual Plan for Reduction of Illegal Coca Growing Area —under the National Strategy to Fight Drugs 2017-2021.

Such raids are supported by National Anti-Drug Agency (Dirandro) and Police Aviation Department.
