Peru national team holds intense training session ahead of World Cup

10:49 | Schruns (Austria), Jun. 6.

Peru's national soccer players held an intense training session at the team's training camp in Austria on Wednesday, in preparation for the coming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

The Incas played a practice game against their under-20 counterparts, who traveled to Europe to make the drill more challenging.

On Tuesday, the 23 chosen players enjoyed their day off, which they used to go sightseeing in Zurich (Switzerland) and shopping at exclusive boutiques.

Peru's coach Ricardo Gareca conducted tactical exercises to challenge Jefferson Farfan, Christian Cueva, and Andre Carrillo.

The same rigorousness was applied to defender Alberto Rodriguez, who did not play the friendly against Saudi Arabia and was presumed to be injured.

Gareca's men will play their last friendly match against Sweden in Gothenburg on June 9 at 6:15 PM (local time).

As is known, Peru qualified for the FIFA World Cup after 36 years. The squad is placed in Group C, along with France, Denmark, and Australia.

The Incas' first game will be played against Denmark (June 16). Then, they will clash with France (June 21) before facing Australia (June 26).
