Peru's President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski urged different State-run bodies to work together to improve the justice system and fight crime successfully, something "citizens are waiting for."

"We need the justice system to earn approval from the population and, to do so, it has to be more efficient and we need to work in cooperation with the Judiciary, Public Ministry, the National Council of the Magistracy, Justice Ministry, everyone," he pointed out.

"It is important to join forces to overcome extortions and crime, which is damaging a country that has made significant progress and will continue to do so," said the country’s top official.

He said additional resources are required, although there are not many. However, he feels optimistic improvements will occur within the next months in office.

In addition, the Peruvian leader expressed absolute rejection over the release of criminals by a judge in Huaral, Ismael Orozco, whose services have already been terminated.

"We have to prevent this situation from happening again. I mean, criminals cannot just be released that easily after the police and public security system submitted evidences against them. We cannot tolerate this," he emphasized.

Mr. Kuczynski made these statements during the signing of the National Agreement on Justice, which involved the participation of organizations seeking improvement of services at the judicial system.
