Cordova's resignation

Last Wednesday, Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva announced the Peruvian Government had accepted the resignation of Production Minister Daniel Cordova.

The Cabinet's chief said he had a long conversation with Cordova after a television program aired a video of him offering to sack his deputy minister, during a meeting with artisanal fishing union officers.

"He (Daniel Cordova) has tendered his resignation (…) and we settled the situation rapidly. The decision was made in coordination with the minister," Villanueva stated at the moment.

Cordova was sworn in as Production Minister on April 2, 2018.

Shortly after his resignation was made public, the resigning official remarked —via Twitter— that he leaves the post to prevent political issues from interfering with a solution for artisanal fishing issues.
