Peru: Contract for urea purchase awarded to Ready Oil Supply LLC

11:55 | Lima, Aug. 2.

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) —through the Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program (AgroRural) in charge of the acquisition of nitrogenous fertilizer (urea)— on Tuesday reported that the process for the international purchase of synthetic fertilizer has been completed —within the framework of Urgency Decree No. 013-2022, which has as goal the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.

As a result of this process, the purchase contract for the 65,587 tons of urea was awarded to international company Ready Oil Supply LLC (United States) —out of a total of seven bidders from Russia, Italy, Australia, Mexico, Paraguay, and the United States, which had moved to the evaluation phase.

Therefore, compliance with all requirements had to be verified.

Likewise, the event took place in the presence of a public notary and the Institutional Control Body (OCI).

It should be noted that the Award platform was used for this process during the phases of offer submission, evaluation, correction, and negotiation, until the awarding —permanently joined by AgroRural's OCI.

In order to rely on a broad participation of bidders to ensure the timely delivery of urea within the highest international standards and best prices, Midagri worked jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which —through Peruvian embassies worldwide— invited more than 158 companies to participate in the process.

Requirements for the acquisition

On this occasion, as part of the requirements demanded from bidding companies, specific experience in sales of urea or fertilizers for agricultural use up to a minimum of 100,000 tons over the last five years was required, as were the financial statements from the past three years.

This way, AgroRural reiterated its commitment to the agricultural sector in carrying forward a transparent process, which began on July 12, fulfilling the commitment of the sector's Minister, Andres Alencastre, to lead a clean and transparent process —just as it has happened.
