The year-on-year growth of loans to individuals went from 13% in April to 14% in March, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Sunday.

Such growth was driven by local currency-denominated loans, which surged 16.2% in the fifth month of the year (14.3% in April).

According to the BCR, consumer credit went from a year-on-year increase of 17.2% in April to 19.8% in May.

Meanwhile, mortgage loans recorded a year-on-year growth of 8.1% in May, up 7.5% from the previous month.

In monthly terms, loans to individuals grew 1.7% in May, the tenth consecutive monthly increase, driven by the increase in consumer (2.1%) and mortgage (1%) loans.
