The Government of Peru has condemned the recent indiscriminate escalation of violence in Gaza and border areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Sunday.

In a post on Twitter, the government agency expressed its solidarity with the families of the innocent victims and called for respect for the human rights of the population.

Likewise, the ministry reiterated the urgency of resuming dialogue between Israel and Palestine for the sake of a definitive solution based on the coexistence of two States, which would allow them to live in peace, within secure and internationally recognized borders.

At least thirty-two Palestinians have been killed since the current escalation between Israel and Islamic Jihad militants began last Friday, according to figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Six children are among those killed.
