Peru, Spain agree to sign new cooperation framework

Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Miguel Rodriguez Mackay met with Spanish counterpart Juan Manuel Albares in Bogota, Colombia, where they signed a new binational cooperation framework, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

"They agreed to sign an agreement that will provide a new cooperation framework for both countries in the coming months," the government agency said on Twitter. 

During the meeting, which took place on Sunday, the authorities addressed topics of common interest looking to intensify the bilateral relationship.

Moreover, they underscored the importance for the European Union and Latin America to strengthen their relationship.

Rodriguez and Albares met in Bogota after attending the inauguration ceremony of President Gustavo Petro.

As is known, both Foreign Affairs Minister Miguel Rodriguez Mackay and First Vice-President of the Republic Dina Boluarte attended the ceremony on behalf of the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo.
