Peru: Vice-President, FA Min meet with Colombia's President-elect Gustavo Petro

Peru's First Vice-President of the Republic Dina Boluarte and Foreign Affairs Minister Miguel Rodriguez Mackay held a fruitful working meeting with Colombia's President-elect Gustavo Petro.

Petro was accompanied by Colombia's Vice President-elect Francia Marquez and Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Alvaro Leyva.


During the meeting, held on Saturday, Boluarte highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations and the existing overlaps between both countries in the interest of the protection of the environment and the Amazon, the promotion of border development, and the inclusion of less favored populations.

Moreover, she emphasized the strengthening of regional integration, as well as joint work to fight transnational organized crime. 

Similarly, the meeting addressed the common interest in promoting the gender equality and inclusion policy.

Both delegations agreed to hold the VII Presidential Meeting and Binational Cabinet between the two countries in the first quarter of next year in Peru.

Additionally, they expressed their desire to continue promoting joint bilateral policies in order to benefit and develop citizens in both nations.

In this regard, Colombia's President-elect Gustavo Petro stressed the need to continue working together on the bilateral agenda and agreed to participate in the VII Presidential Meeting and Binational Cabinet, to be held in Cusco.
