Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi affirmed that Peru, upon assuming the Presidency of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 2024, will be able to put on the bloc's agenda issues to address the needs of Peruvians, especially of the most vulnerable sectors.

This was announced during her participation in the APEC 2024 Business Breakfast conversation panel —an event to launch business-related activities for Peru's APEC 2024 Presidency.

Therefore, various initiatives such as APEC Ciudadano (Citizen APEC) will be promoted. It will seek to bring this forum closer to ordinary citizens.

Likewise, efforts will be undertaken to achieve trade and investment for inclusive growth, the transition from informal to formal economy, among others.

Minister Gervasi reminded attendees that Peru has assumed the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance. Thus, a rapprochement between the two blocs will be boosted so as to promote a common agenda.

Moreover, the government official reaffirmed the commitment to the preparatory work for more than 160 meetings and the APEC Leaders' Summit.

In this sense, she underlined the importance of continuing to work in coordination with private and academic sectors.
