The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo affirmed that his administration aspires to the return of the balance of powers so as to close major gaps in Peru and clarified that the political moment being experienced nowadays was not generated by his administration.

Mr. Castillo met with ronderos (farming community patrollers) at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday night.

"Since the first day (in office), a group has been heard saying (presidential) vacancy, accusation, incompetence, suspension, resignation. I have not come for that," Mr. Castillo pointed out in his speech.

The Head of State said the phrase "dissolution of Congress" has never come out of his mouth.

Similarly, he affirmed that the votes of farming community patrollers, farmers, and teachers, which led him to the Presidency of the Republic, must be respected.

"The balance of power has been broken. And the only desire we have is for the (State) powers to be balanced in order to close major gaps in the country," he emphasized.

According to the top official, there is a crisis of values in Peru, in sectors such as education and health.

"Now, it is up to this generation to reverse (the situation), and we have to do that by working hand-in-hand," he underlined.

Before farming community patrollers from various Peruvian regions, Mr. Castillo highlighted the important role they play for the sake of communities and indicated that the major changes needed in this country come from working in unity with these organizations.

His administration —he said— has the doors open to address the concerns of farming community patrollers on topics such as agriculture and justice.

The Head of State also promised to put their demands under consideration at the next Council of Ministers and to make viable the bills that need to be approved by Congress.

During the meeting, the top official handed out certificates of recognition to the former directors of this organization. Representatives from Ayacucho and Cajamarca, in turn, performed various songs from their regions.
