Canada tour operators more interested in Peru business travel industry

12:24 | Lima, Nov. 4.

Canadian tour operators are becoming more and more interested in Peru's business travel industry, said Ricardo Ruiz, Chairman of the Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce based in Montreal.

Nine Peruvian companies in the tourism sector took part in the 2019 edition of the Canada Tourism Workshop (WOTCAN), during which they met with Canadian counterparts in Toronto and Montreal.

WOTCAN is a business workshop whose main objective is the development of partnerships between Peruvian tour operators and Canadian travel agencies.

"We have doubled our efforts to attract tour operators that have not yet served destinations within Peru," Ruiz underlined.

In this sense, an additional meeting was convened. The gathering was aimed at Peruvian operators organizing MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) trips.

In fact, nine Canadian companies expressed great interest in the aforementioned niche.

"There is a perspective of greater interest for new routes and innovative products, which are not so segmented to traditional programs," he affirmed.

Peruvian companies attending the event were Legendary Peru, Viajes Pacifico, Condor Travel, Tierra de Los Andes, Fiesta Tour International, Cross Check Peru, Lima Tours, Amazon River Expeditions, and Inca Rail.

The products included lodges and cruises along Amazon River and four Inca Rail train options.
