OECD presents report to strengthen public financial management in Peru

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has received the report entitled "Public financial management in Peru: an OECD peer review," whose recommendations will allow tackling the challenges in the financial management of the State.

This is one of the issues that Peru must address on its path to accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The Peer Review report on public financial management was requested by the MEF to the OECD and financed by the Swiss Cooperation (SECO) in Peru, within the framework of the Continuous Improvement Program of Public Financial Management. The report covered four areas of analysis:

- Budgetary Practices and Budgetary Governance.

- Treasury and cash management modernization.

- Public investment programming and management.

- Fiscal Management of Human Resources in the public sector.

This report will allow the country to align its policies with the best practices of OECD countries.


The report was introduced by Acting Director of the OECD's Public Governance Directorate Janos Bertok, while the recommendations were formulated by Camila Vammalle, general coordinator of the report.

Also participating in the meeting were Alain Bühlmann, director of the Swiss Cooperation (SECO) in Peru, as well as the Ministry's directors-general and officials.
