In a significant event, Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Allan Wagner inaugurated the Ambassador Javier Perez de Cuellar Room at Lima-based Torre Tagle Palace, in honor of the illustrious diplomat on the commemoration of the first year of his passing.

In his words, Ambassador Wagner stressed that this act symbolizes the permanent presence of Mr. Javier Perez de Cuellar at Torre Tagle, whose image constitutes a continuous source of inspiration for all.

The diplomat stressed that —on the way to the Bicentennial of the Foreign Affairs Ministry— Ambassador Perez de Cuellar's legacy is a beacon of moral rectitude, public ethics, and commitment to the nation.

The room houses a display case containing the main decorations that —during his lifetime— were awarded to the former Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Thanks to the generosity of the Perez de Cuellar family, the atmosphere also features personal items of the icon of Peruvian diplomacy, which will be kept in a prominent space at the headquarters.

Beyond these invaluable objects and memories that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now guards at Torre Tagle Palace, the tribute aims to commemorate the remarkable service of the late ambassador of Peru to the rest of the world.

He is a source of pride for the national diplomatic service and global diplomacy.

He currently remains a source of inspiration for all Peruvians due to his serenity, deep love for the country, and commitment to world peace.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday.
