The nocturnal curfew measure against the novel coronavirus pandemic remains in force throughout Peruvian territory, President Martin Vizcarra affirmed on Wednesday.

The Head of State argued that —although the Government has relaxed some measures by lifting the mandatory social immobilization (curfew) on Sundays— the restriction on mobility at nights remains in force.

"Curfew remains permanent (...) all details will be disclosed via Supreme Decree, I only announce the relevant issues," he said on the matter.

The top official specified that this measure helps to control coronavirus infections, which is why the Government decided to continue with the measure.

On the other hand, Sundays' curfew will be lifted starting October 25 in each region where the measure had been in force.

Today's remarks were made during a televised address to the nation from the Government Palace in Lima.

President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
