Peru: COVID-19 vaccines exceed 2 million

To date, the Transition and Emergency Government has received a total of 2,027,520 COVID-19 vaccines from the laboratories with which it signed agreements for the supply of said doses, as well as through the COVAX Facility mechanism.


In this sense, the Cabinet member explained that 276,000 AstraZeneca doses were received on Sunday. These are added to the 200,000 Pfizer doses received on April 14, which lead to a total of 476,000 doses only during the past week.

 
Over 66,000 older adults vaccinated


"The goal is to immunize 102,000 adults over 80 years of age at the end of these vaccination days, simultaneously in 22 districts of Metropolitan Lima and Callao," he said, mentioning that those, who could not attend the vaccination centers last weekend, would be allowed to do so this Monday and Tuesday.


 

He added that 86,989 members of the Armed Forces have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

National Emergency Program

Concerning the economic reactivation, Minister Chicoma announced the launch of the Business Emergency Program —a competitive fund worth S/64.4 million (about US$17.73 million) to support almost 2,000 companies in order to adapt to the new reality caused by the pandemic.

He also said that this program is created within the framework of the Entrepreneurial Mipyme Fund, so that companies have a better capacity to face this economic crisis derived from the health crisis —through knowledge transfer, as well as technological adoption and adaptation.
