Peru: Ex-President Garcia's remains to be cremated on Friday

The remains of ex-President Alan Garcia will be cremated on Friday at Huachipa's Camposanto Mapfre Cemetery, it was announced on Thursday.

On day two, supporters, relatives, party members, and politicians continue to arrive at Garcia's wake taking place at APRA political party headquarters in Lima's Breña district.

Alan Garcia, who served twice as President of Peru, died on Wednesday in the nation's capital city at the age of 69 over a self-inflicted shot to the head.

The ex-Head of State shot himself in the morning after authorities arrived at his home with a 10-day preliminary detention order against him linked to the Odebrecht corruption case investigation.

The Inca country's Executive Branch has declared three days —April 17-19— of national mourning for the death of the ex-Head of State.
