The Peruvian Government is committed to maintaining and even exceeding the rate of vaccination against COVID-19 (100,000 doses per day), Education Minister Ricardo Cuenca has affirmed.

Likewise, the Cabinet member highlighted the strengthening of Minsa and the massive purchase of vaccines by President Francisco Sagasti's administration.

In this sense, the minister mentioned that —at the beginning of the Government's term in office (November 2020)— the administration had found 63 medical oxygen plants, adding that there are currently 242 nationwide. Besides, there used to be 1,480 ICU beds, but there are currently 2,783.

"Our objective is to reach 3,000 ICU beds by July 28. This way, we are preparing to face a potential third wave of the coronavirus pandemic," he said during a press conference on Friday.

Furthermore, the official underlined the immunization speed that Minsa has achieved, since —at the beginning— it had taken the government agency 50 days to administer the first one million doses.

However, in 11 days, Minsa has already administered another one million.
