Peru: PM meets with lawmakers from Arequipa, discusses pandemic challenges

Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos and some Cabinet members on Saturday met with parliamentarians representing Peru's Arequipa region to address the main challenges facing the region during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by Ministers Victor Zamora (Health), Carlos Lozada (Transport-Communications), and Jorge Montenegro (Agriculture-Irrigation).

It also saw the presence of lawmakers from the southern region.

Arequipa is one of the regions suffering the most due to the pandemic, according to the latest reports.

Arequipa, Ica, Junin, Huanuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios, and Ancash remain under mandatory social isolation. In those areas, residents are allowed to leave their homes only to have access to essential services and goods and to carry out authorized economic activities.
