Peru President attends Lima's 485th anniversary ceremony

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Friday attended the ceremony to commemorate Lima's 485th foundation anniversary.

"Let us celebrate together, with the firm commitment to continue shaping the Lima that we dream of!" the Presidency of the Republic posted on Twitter.

The solemn session was presided over by the Mayor of Lima Jorge Muñoz.

During the ceremony, a group of citizens received the rank of Distinguished Residents.

Moreover, in his speech, Muñoz outlined the accomplishments of his term in office.

Lima was founded on January 18, 1535, by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, who arrived in the territory attracted by riches and treasure-related stories.
