Peru: President Sagasti, Canada's PM discuss COVID-19 pandemic

The President of the Republic of Peru Francisco Sagasti held a phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday.

Both leaders talked about the close bilateral ties uniting the two nations.

Within this framework, the Peruvian Head of State thanked Canada for the long-standing cooperation programs, especially during the fight against the pandemic.

"I expressed to him the importance of cooperation programs in key areas such as health, education, as well as in science and technology for the development of our country," Mr. Sagasti recalled via Twitter. 

Lastly, the two top officials agreed on the need to "deepen our joint and multilateral efforts aimed at facing the political, economic, and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, as well as addressing the impact of Venezuelan migration in Peru."
