Peru: Sunday's COVID-19 curfew in force today

This curfew kicked off last Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. and will last until 4:00 a.m. on Monday.

Within this framework, the provinces under extreme risk are: Huaraz (Ancash); Huamanga (Ayacucho); Canchis (Cusco); Huancavelica and Tayacaja (Huancavelica); Huanuco (Huanuco); Ica and Chincha (Ica); Huancayo, Tarma, Chanchamayo, Satipo and Chupaca (Junin); Huaura, Barranca, Huarochiri and Huaral (Lima); Metropolitan Lima; Callao (Callao); Maynas (Loreto); Ilo (Moquegua); Oxapampa (Pasco); Puno (Puno); and Tacna (Tacna).

This measure was taken by the Council of Ministers and will be in force for two Sundays (today and March 14), in order to continue lowering the number of COVID-19 cases.

As is known, the Executive Branch decided to lift the one-month lockdown in extreme risk regions on March 24 (valid on March 1), but set a new curfew schedule —every night from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the next day— and ordered mandatory social immobility on Sundays.

During curfew, the strictly necessary personnel who participate in the provision of essential services are allowed to carry out their usual activities.
