Peru, Uruguay tie 1-1 in 2022 World Cup qualifier

Peru tied Uruguay 1-1 on Thursday evening, when the two sides met in the CONMEBOL qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

The two goals of the match were scored during the first half.

The first goal was scored by Peru's Renato Tapia (24'), a right footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner, assisted by Paolo Guerrero with a headed pass following a corner.

However, five minutes later (29'), Giorgian de Arrascaeta (Uruguay) managed to score with a left footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner, assisted by Matias Vecino.

With this tie, Peru has gained only one point and gave the red-white squad a total of five points to occupy the penultimate place in the World Cup qualifiers.

The game, played at the National Stadium in the Peruvian capital Lima, kicked off at 8 p.m. (local time).

It must be pointed out that the Incas' next two matches will be against Venezuela and Brazil on September 5 and 9, respectively.
