Peruvian Prime Minister Walter Martos on Tuesday announced that the second Universal Bonus worth S/760 (US$223) will be paid starting October 10, in order to benefit 8.6 million families nationwide, that is, around 25 million Peruvians.

According to the schedule, he said, the payment of this subsidy will be made in October, November, and December.

Martos noted that all security measures are being taken to avoid crowding and long lines, as has occurred in previous months.

He went on to say that the registry of beneficiaries has been reorganized by a multisectoral team composed of members from the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), and the Bank of Nation (Banco de la Nacion).

"All these efforts were concentrated to prepare the registry in a transparent way, and thus reach the 8.6 million households as soon as possible," he expressed.

This second grant is part of the additional extraordinary measures adopted by the Executive Branch in order to reduce the pandemic's negative impact on the economy of households affected by isolation and mandatory social immobilization measures decreed within the framework of the health emergency.

The financial grant is aimed at households in a situation of poverty or extreme poverty according to the Household Focalization System (SISFOH).

In addition, it is aimed at households with beneficiaries of the National Program of Support to the Poorest "Juntos" (Together), the National Solidarity Assistance Program "Pension 65," and the National Non-contributory Pension Program for People with Severe Disability in Situation of Poverty "CONTIGO" (With You), which are run by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis).

Moreover, the subsidy will benefit those households —which are not included in the abovementioned categories— whose members are not enrolled in the Computer Application for the Centralized Registry of Payroll and Data of Public Sector Human Resources (AIRHSP), or are not on the private payroll, with the exception of pensioners and the job training mode.
