Peruvian President receives Pro-Tempore Presidency of Andean Community

The President of the Republic of Peru Pedro Castillo has received the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Andean Community (CAN) for the 2022-2023 period.

The activity took place at the CAN General Secretariat headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima, where the XXII Meeting of the Andean Presidential Council took place.

After receiving the Pro-Tempore Presidency from his Ecuadorian counterpart, Guillermo Lasso, Mr. Castillo affirmed that Peru will work to fulfill the commitments made today during the summit, so as to close the gaps for the benefit of the peoples of the Andean Community.

Previously, at 10:15 a.m. (local time), the Head of State held a bilateral meeting with his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, within the framework of the XXII Meeting of the Andean Presidential Council.

Established in 1969, the Andean Community is an integration mechanism currently comprising Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
