President arrives at UN headquarters for United Nations General Assembly

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo arrived at the UN headquarters on Tuesday morning to participate in the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Peruvian Head of State entered the UN facilities joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua.

"(I will deliver) A message of unity and tranquility. We must put an end to the endemic evils of the world," Mr. Castillo said in brief statements to the press.

The President's presentation at this international meeting is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (local time). Today's event began with a speech by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Prior to his presentation, the top official will hold a meeting with World Bank President David Malpass at the headquarters of that institution.

In addition, the Peruvian President will meet the UN Secretary-General.

Following his address, Mr. Castillo will meet with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Mauricio Claver-Carone at the Peruvian Embassy in New York.

Later, he will have a meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
