The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Thursday announced that there are six laboratories which will begin the testing phase of their candidate vaccines in Peru this October.

Within this framework, the Head of State affirmed that agreements are already in force to test these vaccines, as is being done at Lima-based Cayetano Heredia and San Marcos Universities by the Sinopharm company in its last phase for commercialization-related approval.

In this sense, the top official assured that the vaccine will be guaranteed to Peru as soon as it is marketed.

"It is convenient for our own scientists to witness the reactions in order to serve the population when they are massively vaccinated, which we hope will be done in the coming months," he stated.

The statesman said that both Cayetano Heredia and San Marcos Universities are the allies of science in the phase 3 of vaccine trials.

Today's remarks were made in a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima.

President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
