Proof of vaccination, negative COVID-19 molecular test needed to enter Peru starting today

07:22 | Lima, Sep. 20.

Starting today, September 20, travelers over 18 years of age coming from countries with vaccination coverage above 70% are required to present proof of vaccination against COVID-19, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has reported.

In addition, according to Supreme Decree No. 152-2021-PCM, Peruvians, foreign residents, and non-resident foreigners whose final destination is Peru —as passengers and regardless of the country of origin— must have proof of a negative molecular test result taken no more than 72 hours prior to their boarding from the country of departure.

All passengers must show the result of their molecular test and, preferably, the vaccination certificate from the country where the vaccination was carried out.

Likewise, the rule provides that those individuals showing COVID-19 symptoms during entry in Peruvian territory will undergo mandatory isolation, according to the regulations on the matter.

On the other hand, the decree states that the entry to Peru of non-resident foreigners from South Africa or those who have made a stopover in said country in the last 14 days has been suspended until October 3, 2021.

Moreover, Peruvian citizens and resident foreigners who come from South Africa or who have stopped over in said country shall undergo mandatory quarantine at home, a lodging facility, or a temporary isolation center for 14 days since their arrival in the national territory.
