The U.S. Embassy in Peru is actively working and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Interior, regional governments, and other Peruvian Government partners to facilitate the repatriation of U.S. citizens who wish to return home.
The U.S. Embassy is working tirelessly to assist U.S. citizens who have expressed a desire to return to the United States. Embassy officials and staff are fully committed to this urgent task. The Embassy remains operational to provide essential services in the context of the current situation.
In times of emergency, the first priority of the
U.S. Department of State is the safety of American citizens abroad. "Throughout the world, we are working to give Americans who want to return home the opportunity to do so."
"It is understandable that many Americans have chosen to return home to be with their friends and family at this unprecedented time, especially those who did not plan an extended stay in Peru. We appreciate the collaboration of the Peruvian Government in these efforts,"
U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Denison Offutt said.
"We are working hard to inform U.S. citizens about the risks related to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) in order to assist them and to combat the spread of the virus. Together we are working hard to address the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.
